Reviews

  • Star Trek by a different name.

I think anyone who loves Star Trek The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager will appreciate this show. It feels like the first season of Star Trek TNG to me. The show has a soul and if given the chance I think it will become a classic in its own right. There's more of a comedic element to the show but you'll come to appreciate it. The Orville has depth and charm.
  • Show is fine - FOX advertising is unacceptable

I love the show - however FOX puts trailing ads on each video for other FOX shows. This is completely unacceptable. We pay for cntent - nto to bew advertised to with out time/ bandwidth / disk space. Will not pay for nother FOX show agan until they discontinue this garbage advertising.

I was disappointed with the first episode I thought it was going to be some kind of star trek parady like galaxy quest and it's not. However four episodes in, I'm actually enjoying it. The stories remind me of star trek next generation tied in with a bit of odd comedy.
  • It’s Star Trek TNG.

I grew up watching TNG. This show has the same feel. If you want a more true trek show than discovery give this a chance.
  • Advertisements

The first two episodes included starting and ending advertisements. Including advertisements on these eopisodes is a bait and switch game. Boycott! to have the ads removed.

After 6 episodes, I can confidently say that I get solid Trek-feels from The Orville! Definitely sit down and watch the series and take it as a whole! Not just based on the pilot!
  • Surprising

Often ridicules and campy, but shows surprising depth at times. Well worth your time.
  • Sci-fi with a little goofy twist

A lot of critics have demanded that this show be funnier however I think there is just enough in each episode. The problem if Seth made the show too funny it would make it cheesy and a really bad show after the first episode if it had no substance. There is just the right mix here of Seth and sci-Fi where it is enjoyable. Looking to see what happeneds next. It defiantly cures my need for a new space show besides Star Trek.

For fans of Star Trek, this has common comforts. For fans of Family Guy, this has great laughs. If you don't like either of those, its a solid bet you'll still like the Orville. If you like science fiction, comedy, drama, amazing creature effects, space travel, puns, satire, action, alien nudity, and nostalgic decor & sound effects, you'll love this.
