    Great series
  • Good show

Good show. And of course a 22-year-old character played by a 26-year-old actor is not going to be playing at the same level as Helen Mirren. That's kind of the point. Good "origins" season, as it were, and avoided many of the stereotypes I was expecting.
  • Charming as well as very well done

  • Didn't Like It

No one to root for. Hard to follow. Didn't like what the writers did to the lead. Made her unappealing.

Eceptionally good TV with generally fine acting and plot and subplots that kept you attention throughout the season.
  • Endeavour + Tennison

Very interested in seeing how WPC Tennison evolves into DCI Tennison. It seems to be better than Life on Mars which I really liked but was often painful to watch. Tennison is more in the vein of Endeavour but I expect will develop grit and an edge as the character evolves into Mirren's Tennison. I'd happily watch it just for the scenery and old cars but the men's fashion is pretty horrible.
  • Superb prequel

I'm alway skeptical of prequels, but but Endeavor & Tennison are superb. Tightly written & well-acted, this is a terrific police procedural. It's also a bit nostalgic with all the top 70's music, the weird hair, & 50-ish modes of tag older folks. How did we ever survive? How will Jane Tennyson survive. It is a grand ride.
  • Giving it a chance

Note that my rating is entirely based on the first episode, which I thought was ok, not brilliant. This show has to succeed on two important levels: 1)casting—anyone following in Helen Mirren’s footsteps just has to be brilliant. While we aren’t expected a Mirren imitation, we are looking for the traits of her Tennison in this one—ambitious, crafty, manipulative, & occasionally empathetic. I’ll give this actress more than 1 episode to pull it off, but for episode 1, she was okay if not somewhat boring. Yes, it’s galling to see Tennison dutifully fetching tea for her male superiors in the force. But, I understand. On the second level, the story has to be worthy of a Prime Suspect episode and a vehicle for Tennison’s character to fully develop. The case of the slain middle class girl who gets mixed up with druggies and gets herself killed seems trite at the outset. Still, I’ll give it a chance, though I must admit my attention began to wander.
  • Very well written show

I saw this in the UK when it was released and I have to admit it was addictive. The show is a prequal based on the Helen Mirren TV show from the 90's, and explores how she began her career in the police force, coming up against the typical Male - Female equality battle whilst proving that she had an equal if not better intellect. One of the best written shows I have seen in a while, it's on par with "Endevour" and I will be enthusiastically watching it again. Highly recommended.
