What if, in the wake of more than a decade of devastating weather events, we finally found a way to control Mother Nature and the destruction her tirades entail? When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth’s very survival, world governments unite and create Project Dutch Boy: a global net of satellites surrounding the planet that are armed with geo-engineering technologies designed to stave off the natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for two years, something is starting to go wrong. Two estranged brothers (Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess) are tasked with solving the program’s malfunction before a worldwide geostorm can engulf the planet.

Why I liken this so much is because I like watching movings like this but if people don’t like sci-fi movies. They will not like this movie.

I don’t know what people expect these days. This movie had a cool concept, good acting, amazing visuals and an entertaining plot. Popcorn movie? Yes. But isn’t that okay?
  • Great flick!

Great cast, great directing, gripping [and relevant] plot, great action scenes, incredible CGI, very entertaining overall! Pleased. :)
  • Two reasons

    1. It's propaganda. 2. It should've had a downer ending - the extinction of all life - and we're stuck with this crap?!

    Really good movie
  • Terrible not even the weather sequences are worth viewing

I waited for this on Netflix but had almost bought it multiple times. I thought it would be a pretty bad movie with at least a lot of very cool weather scenes. Natural disaster special effects are usually pretty cool. They are SO SHORT it’s not worth watching the movie even to skip forward to them. The acting was also very bad. I’m a big fan of Gerard Butler even he was ridiculous in this.
  • Puuuurty good.

Better than I thought it would be.
  • Don’t listen to the negativity

I was hesitant to rent the movie because of all the bad press. But I did it anyway and found myself pleasantly surprised. Sure it’s a lot of cgi but there’s a good story and great actors. People also referred to it as the Day After Tomorrow remake which i could see but it still had its own line. It’s not the best movie in the world but it’s certainly not the worst. And certainly doesn’t deserve all the bad press it has received
  • Why all the hate?

Okay, I get that this isn't "A River Runs Through It" because it's not sublime enough. Nor is it "Interstellar" for its attention to (at least some) science fact. But it is NOT as bad as people have been saying. The cast is good and they play it well (not woodenly). The plot jogs along pretty fast and you stay in it throughout the whole movie. The weaving of the standard big-budget disaster with a bit of a mystery is enjoyable, for a change. And the special effects ARE good. Is it scientifically accurate? No. Is it really plausible? A little maybe, until the end. Is it escapist and good fun? YES! Don't buy into the hate. Make up your own mind. But for me, it was a nice waste of time. I didn't come away a changed person but I did smile a lot during it. Took a star off for the implausable ending. Other than that, enjoy!
